Shelly Owens, MSW, LSWAIC

Pronouns: She/Her

Over the years I’ve worked with children, teens and adults in various capacities. I have experience counseling teens in group homes, I’ve been a drug and alcohol counselor and I’ve worked as a Victim Advocate for families affected by sexual trauma. Having lived in several states across the country I’ve had the pleasure to meet and work with people from many different backgrounds.

I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Harding University and my master's degree in social work from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. I have been married to my husband for twenty years, we have 2 children and a rescue dog. Being a parent and wife are the best parts of my life, but also the most challenging. I understand the pressure to be the best you can for your family, while also struggling to get your own needs met.

My approach to therapy is based in C.B.T. and Strengths Based perspective. I believe that you are the expert on your life and I would be honored to work with you to improve areas of stress, confusion or pain. I provide a safe, confidential and understanding space for you to share your thoughts, fears, and feelings. Together we can work to improve your life and your relationships.
